Community Solar Land Origination Manager – Midwest Region

We have a proven track record of successfully developing distributed generation projects, including community solar and utility-scale projects across the U.S. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a dynamic Community Solar Land Origination Manager to expand our land acquisition efforts and drive project development in key U.S. markets.
Your Role
As a key member of the development team, you will be responsible for identifying and securing land for Community Solar and Storage projects in new and existing markets. Your role will involve strategic planning, direct landowner engagement, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to ensure project success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Land Origination & Acquisition: Identify, evaluate, and secure land for community solar projects by developing site selection criteria, creating target land lists, and negotiating long-term lease agreements.
- Landowner Engagement: Build relationships with landowners, conduct outreach, and manage negotiations to secure project sites.
- Market Expansion & Strategy: Work closely with the SolarStone team to develop and implement market-specific strategic plans to drive project origination and development.
- Travel & Stakeholder Management: Conduct site visits and engage with local stakeholders—including landowners, municipalities, and regulators. (Approximately 50% travel required.)
- Project Stewardship: Oversee land origination efforts through project milestones, ensuring a seamless transition to permitting, interconnection, and development execution.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with engineering, legal, and commercial teams to ensure projects progress on time and within budget.
- Permitting & Grid Interconnection (Optional): Depending on market needs, assist with obtaining zoning and planning approvals, securing interconnection agreements, and identifying off-take opportunities.
Your Profile
The ideal candidate has a minimum of 3 years of Renewable Energy Land Acquisition experience and a blend of business development, sales, and project origination experience.
Qualifications & Skills:
✅ Business Experience: Background in land acquisition, business development, account management, infrastructure project development, or technical sales.
✅ Industry Knowledge: Experience in solar, wind, renewables, or conventional power generation is preferred but not required.
✅ Negotiation & Relationship Building: Proven success in stakeholder engagement with landowners, external consultants, and project partners.
✅ Project Management Acumen: Ability to manage timelines, budgets, and cross-functional teams to ensure project success.
✅ Self-Starter with Entrepreneurial Spirit: Motivated to drive deals, create opportunities, and thrive in a fast-paced, growing industry.
✅ Tech-Savvy & Analytical: Proficiency in Andersen Optimization, Google Earth, MS Office, G Suite, Adobe, Zoom, and other relevant software.
✅ Education: Degree in business, legal, technical, real estate, or related field preferred.
Additional Information & Compensation
- Location: Remote (U.S.-based), with proximity to a major airport preferred.
- Travel: Approximately 50% travel required for site visits, landowner meetings, and market expansion efforts.
- Reports To: VP of Community Solar Origination and Project Development, SolarStone.
- Compensation: $130,000 – $150,000+ per year, with potential for performance-based incentives.

Work Environments & Requirement
Work is performed both in an office environment and in the field. With frequent travel expected, must be a licensed and fully insured driver. Must be able to sit, stand, bend, twist, walk distances on unleveled soils, and lift up to 20 pounds.
