SolarStone Development, LLC (“SolarStone”), is a solar project developer formed by industry executives in 2013. A strong track record in developing distributed generation projects, including community solar and utility-scale projects in various markets in the US. SolarStone seeks to hire a new team member to help build and grow the business throughout the US.

your role

As a key part of the development team, you will have responsibility for:

  • Solar project development in one or two new markets in the US, from landowner engagement to execute long-term lease agreements and contract negotiations through stewarding projects to operational close.
  • Leading land acquisition efforts directly with landowners.  Monthly travel is required.
  • Working with the whole SolarStone team, you will formulate and implement market-based strategic plans and project-specific development plans.
  • Working with the SolarStone team to secure local planning and zoning permits, grid interconnection agreements, and long-term off-take agreements.
  • Managing internal and external resources, including engineering, technical, commercial, and legal support, to deliver projects on-time and within budget.

your profile

As a key part of the development team, you will have responsibility for:

  • Industry experience; business development, land acquisition, or developing infrastructure projects.
  • Industry experience in renewables or conventional power generation is preferred, but not essential.
  • Successful track record with project stakeholders, including landowners, project contractors, external consultants, and development partners.
  • Aptitude for project management and leadership.
  • Self-motivated with a keen interest in the renewable energy sector.
  • Team player with good interpersonal skills and an entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Degree related to business, planning, engineering, or a science-based subject. Advanced degree preferred
  • Proficient computer skills (e.g., MS Office, G Suite, Adobe, Google Earth, and Zoom)

This role will report to the VP of Utility Development of SolarStone. While SolarStone is based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, you could be based in anywhere in the US, with proximity to a major airport. Travel is required to engage local stakeholders and you should possess a valid driver’s license and proper insurance. SolarStone offers an attractive compensation package including base salary, progress success incentives, and profit-sharing.
