Erik Richardson
Vice President of Development

As Vice President of Development for SolarStone, Erik is responsible for driving the strategy and execution of SolarStone’s pipeline of distributed and utility-scale energy projects. Erik comes to the company with over 15 years of energy development experience, having worked for a wide range of companies, including independent engineering firms, regional developers, and global IPPs. Prior to joining SolarStone, Erik led business development and execution for NewSun Energy – a Pacific Northwest-focused utility-scale project developer. At NewSun, Erik managed one of the largest development pipelines in the PNW and successfully negotiated 3 PPAs with two different public power customers in the region. He led EPC management and contract negotiations and supported the closings of multiple development and construction loan facilities.
Prior to NewSun, Erik led business development efforts in WECC for Enel X North America, focusing on distributed energy solutions for large load customers and load-serving entities. Earlier in his career, Erik spent several years at NRG Renewables, where he helped establish one of the first community solar M&A platforms, in which he originated and led the acquisition of over 35 community solar projects totaling approximately 100 MWdc.
Erik holds a Master of Arts in Energy and Environmental Analysis from Boston University and a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies from Dartmouth College.
When he’s not thinking about energy, Erik enjoys being outdoors with his family – snowboarding, fishing, biking, camping, or just walking the dog.
